Winter Yoga + Ski/Snowboard Retreat
FEB. 8-12, 2024
Join us for a five-day, four-night retreat for women who wish to embrace the stillness and reflection enjoyed during nature’s fourth season. Celebrate winter through restorative yoga and meditation balanced with outdoor snow sports like scenic skiing or snowboarding.
Bring peace to body and mind under the guidance of instructor Amy Foreman during restorative fireside yoga sessions at the Wolf Den. Myofascial release techniques will be the highlight of post-ski/boarding yoga sessions designed to help soothe tired muscles.
Enjoy two opportunities to hit the slopes at Colorado’s best-kept secret, Ski Cooper, with groomed downhill terrain suitable for both beginner and advanced skiers/snowboarders alike. Wolf Den Host Gretchen Sparling will take the stress out of skiing/boarding by arranging equipment rentals and booking daily lift passes — not to mention serving up delicious après-ski snacks and beverages. Guests not interested in downhill skiing may opt to cross-country ski or snowshoe at the adjacent Tennessee Pass Nordic Center.
Snowshoe to a backcountry yurt for an unforgettable five-course dining experience at Tennessee Pass Cookhouse. A snowy, 1-mile trek beneath the stars takes visitors to a cozy yurt warmed by a crackling wood-burning stove. The unique setting, delicious food and company will make this a night to remember!
In addition to a nutritious menu and relaxing accommodations (with a bubbling hot tub!), guests will also enjoy a 60-minute relaxation massage after a weekend spent skiing/snowboarding on the mountain.
This thoughtfully curated weekend offers the very best of Central Colorado to women seeking rest, reflection, winter sports and an opportunity to make lifelong friends.
Registration will open early fall 2023.

Travel
For those traveling from out of state, Denver International Airport is recommended for air travel. Guests will need a winter-equipped (AWD/4WD) rental vehicle for the drive from Denver, approximately a 2.5-hour trip. Ride sharing is encouraged.
Equipment Rentals
Don’t have your own ski or snowboarding equipment? No worries. As you complete the deposit purchase, please indicate that you will need rental equipment and Gretchen will contact you directly to coordinate.
Skill Level
The Winter retreat itinerary is tailored for beginners — whether you’ve never practiced yoga or never tried downhill skiing, there’s a place for you here. Yoga sessions will be focused on recovery. For those new to downhill skiing or snowboarding, lessons at Ski Cooper are available if interested (though, not included in registration). Please let Gretchen know if you wish to attend a lesson, and she will coordinate.
Consult with your physician prior to registration, if you have any concerns.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a holistic healing system that helps us better understand how food, experiences, emotions, relationships, age, environment, and nature can balance or unbalance our mind, body, and spirit.
Dietary Needs
All meals — with the exception of the backcountry yurt dining experience — will be prepared by your host, Gretchen. We are used to designing menus with various dietary needs, including allergies. Please provide any dietary restrictions or preferences for Gretchen during the registration questionnaire.
Traveling Solo?
A love for yoga and skiing/snowboarding allows new friendships to blossom with ease. Please consider joining us even if you’re traveling solo; we welcome new friends and old! Solo travelers will be prioritized for private rooms, if space allows.
What to Pack
Be prepared to stay cozy during fireside yoga sessions inside the Wolf Den’s living room. Dress for movement. You will also need to dress for skiing/snowboarding in high-altitude environments that can be quite cold. Bring your own outerwear, as well as any ski or board equipment if you have it. Please see info above for Equipment Rental information.
