Frequently Asked Questions
How far is the Wolf Den from the Denver International Airport?
The Wolf Den is approximately a 2.5-hour drive from the Denver International Airport. However, you will cross several mountain passes on this route. Depending on the season, traffic and weather may impact your travel. Please check COTrip.com prior to traveling.
Do I really need a 4WD/AWD vehicle in winter?
While we maintain the Wolf Den driveway and are located off a maintained county road, YES, you should still drive a 4WD/AWD vehicle to the Wolf Den during winter time. It’s highly likely that your drive to/from the Wolf Den will take you on a highway or interstate requiring 4WD/AWD vehicles *or* chains during winter weather. Save yourself the headache, and be prepared for winter driving.
How many guests does the Wolf Den sleep?
Our licensed capacity for guests at the Wolf Den, including daytime visitors, is 10 guests.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, you may bring up to two dogs per reservation for a $175 pet fee. Sorry, no other pets are permitted during your stay.
What does the Cleaning Fee include?
Our cleaning fee is $250 per reservation, and it includes the full cleaning of the property and laundering all linens after your departure. This also include trash removal and hot tub maintenance. Please note, every time our guests mention the word “clean” in a review, our housekeeper gets a $50 bonus.
What supplies are available at the Wolf Den?
We pride ourselves on keeping the Wolf Den stocked with (mostly) everything you will need to stay our minimum 3 nights. This includes kitchen basics, such as cooking oil and spices, as well as paper products like paper towels, tissues and toilet paper. We also supply handsoap, shampoo, conditioner and hand lotion in each bathroom and each sink. Additionally, you will find extra toothbrushes, toothpaste and shaving kits in our guest bags.
Where should we grocery shop?
Groceries are one thing we do not supply at the Wolf Den. We recommend our guests driving from Denver to shop “in the city” for the greatest selection and availability. However, the nearest grocery story is only 25-minutes away in Leadville or Buena Vista. A few of our favorite local specialty shops include The Lettucehead in Buena Vista and Scanga Meat Company outside of Salida. Snag pre-made meals and packaged lunches at the Silver Llama in Leadville.
Can I host a wedding here?
The Wolf Den is an excellent spot for a secluded and intimate elopement versus a large wedding gathering. Our property rules apply to any reservation at the Wolf Den. This means your gathering must fit within our licensed capacity of 10 — which includes any daytime visitors — and you must abide by noise guidelines.
